2019 Tanner Lectures Discussion Seminar: Anne Case and Angus Deaton

Scholars and members of the public share their thoughts on the troubling trends of increasing deaths due to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as suicide. The seminar begins with a presentation by Anna Lembke, medical director for Stanford Addiction Medicine, starting at 4:08. Followed by comments from Daniel Wikler, professor of ethics and population health at Harvard University, starting at 30:55.

The findings were presented at Stanford by Princeton economists Anne Case and Angus Deaton during the 2019 Tanner Lectures on Human Values. Stanford’s Office of the President and the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society co-sponsor the annual Tanner Lectures, including this April 12, 2019, seminar.
